Effeciency starts at the level of design. Bain-Waring and the homeowners worked together on every step of this process. Along with the EarthCraft team, they used home-energy modeling software to ensure that upgrades were made in areas that would lead to the most energy savings per dollar. High effecieny HVAC equipment, state-of-the-art insulation and air-sealing techniques, an automatic fresh air ventilation system, and photovoltaics provide the level of energy efficiency and on site power needed to achieve an energy neutral home. These attributes will not only lead to a Zero Energy Home, they will also make for a more comfortable, healthier living space. |
