Being a part of a community means giving back whenever
you can. Here are some of the causes in which we believe and in
which we have been able to donate some of our our time and talents.
We'd like to extend a special thank you to all of the contractors
and suppliers who have offered their help and contributions!
Come Home to Health - The American Lung Association
8166 Burnside Court in Hanover County
Built by Bain-Waring
The 2100 square foot Hartford plan is special in many ways.
This four bedroom, 2 ½ bath home has both formal rooms, a great room
and a large open kitchen. This plan is constructed using our High
Performance Home System which makes this house 30% to 40% more energy
efficient than other homes built to the requirements of the Model Energy Code.
The Hartford is Bain-Waring's offering for the Come Home to Health Tour
sponsored by the American Lung Association of Virginia. A few of the special
features of this Come Home to Health house are:
1.) Sealed and conditioned crawl
spaces with controlled pressure to minimize house leakage and provide radon abatement.
2.) Ceramic tile and hardwood floors throughout the home including a new Knotty Beech
floor on the first level.
3.) White raised panel cabinets with new types of plywood that contain no urea formaldehydes
and are painted with low VOC paints.
4.) Special mechanical ventilation, to provide fresh air and exhaust stale air, is added to
a sealed duct system to provide enhanced indoor air quality, the cornerstone of our program.
5.) Cellulose insulation, which is a natural product, is packed into walls and ceilings for an
environmentally friendly and extremely efficient outer shell.
6.) Dustless drywall sanding and the use of low VOC paints insure that the house minimizes other
indoor air pollutants.
This High Performance Home Package is backed by Bain-Waring - the winner of the Millennium Award for Excellence in Customer Service, awarded by Quality Builders Warranty whose ten year warranty is standard with all Bain-Waring homes.
